Ondo community cries out over impassable roads, deteriorating public facilities

Residents of Ire-Akari in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have expressed frustration over what they described as deteriorating state of major roads in the community as well as public facilities.

According to the residents, the state government has continued to turn a blind eye to their predicaments despite years of agonies.

A resident of the community, who gave his name as Abiodun, disclosed that the Oba-Akoko road that links Idoani had remained impassable, adding that there are no functional health facilities in the community.

While lamenting that the only time government officials visit the community is during electioneering periods, Abiodun stated that government presence in the community is rated at zero.

On her part, Iyabo Adebayo stressed that “the only two roads that leads to the community are in a seriously bad state. And we have always been voting for APC.

“We are appealing to the Ondo State government to help resuscitate the Magistrate Court, Customary Court and our health centres. Even our road are not motorable at all. It is as if we are in hell fire. We don’t even know what our representatives are doing. For over ten years, there has not been electricity in Ire-Akari

A community leader, Oluwafemi Fadahunsi, stated that from Afo to Idogun, Idoani and Imeri, the present government has done nothing for them in terms of roads, electricity, water and standard schools.

“We are just existing for the sake of it. Our monarchs have taken steps and met with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa twice in Akure. But it has always been promises without action.”
