Nigerian Air Force Redeploys Top Officers 24 Hours After New Chief Of Air Staff Assumes Office

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has approved the redeployment of several senior officers in what it described as a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency and align with the command philosophy of its new Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.

According to NAF, the reshuffle affects key appointments at headquarters, field commands, and units across the country.

Aneke said the exercise was designed to optimize command effectiveness, improve decision-making, and strengthen mission readiness in response to Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

Among those affected by the redeployment is Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Abdullahi, who has been appointed Chief of Policy and Plans.

AVM Adeniran Ademuwagun is now the commandant of the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, while AVM Ibitayo Ajiboye becomes group managing director of the Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) Group of Companies.

AVM Precious Amadi has been named chief of operations, and AVM Nnamdi Ananaba takes over as chief of air intelligence.

AVM Ebimobo Ebiowe will serve as superintendent of standards and evaluation, while AVM Ahmed Dari has been appointed chief of training.

The transformation and innovation branch will now be headed by AVM Mohammed Ibrahim.

In the logistics and engineering sectors, AVM Olufemi Ogunsina has been appointed chief of aircraft engineering, while AVM Michael Onyebashi assumes command as air officer commanding (AOC), Mobility Command.

AVM David Pwajok is now chief of communication and information systems, and AVM John Ukeh becomes air provost marshal.

AVM Simon Peter has been named managing director of NAFIL Housing and Construction Company, while AVM Chidiebere Obiabaka takes over as air secretary.

AVM Anthony Martins will serve as chief of administration, and AVM Abubakar Sule is now AOC, Logistics Command.

AVM Abdulrasheed Kotun has been appointed managing director of NAF Farms, while AVM Edward Gabkwet is the new chief of civil-military relations. AVM Osichinaka Ubadike has been named deputy commandant of AFIT.

Other senior officers redeployed include AVMs Ahmed Bakari, Albert Bot, Idi Sani, Muhammed Suleiman, Jibrin Usman, and Japheht Ekwuribe, who have been posted to various defence and inter-service establishments.

The Air Force said the reshuffle was intended to ensure balanced leadership, improve institutional effectiveness, and sustain the momentum of transformation under Aneke’s leadership.

“With this new wave of appointments, the Nigerian Air Force is poised to consolidate its achievements and usher in an era of smarter, more adaptive air operations.

“It is a force built not merely for power, but for purpose, protection, and progress,” the statement signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF spokesman, said.
