The Nasarawa State Police Command has dismissed social media reports alleging that schoolchildren were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Keffi and the Gidan Zakara area of Karu Local Government Area.
A video circulating online had claimed that pupils were taken by armed men near Kilometre 10, Gidan Zakara, along the Keffi–Abuja road, sparking concern among residents and parents.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, stated that the command found the claims to be entirely fabricated.
“The Command states unequivocally that the information is false,” Nansel said, adding that two persons believed to have circulated the false alarm have been arrested for questioning.
He urged members of the public to disregard the rumour and continue their daily activities without fear.
“Residents of the state are advised to go about their lawful businesses,” the statement added.
The police further reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security across Nasarawa State and warned against the spread of misinformation capable of causing panic.
