Manchester United Ready to Cash In on £50m Star by 2026

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manuel Ugarte is facing a challenging period at Manchester United, as reports suggest the club is open to letting him leave.

The Uruguayan joined Old Trafford from PSG in 2024 for a total package of £50 million, including add-ons.

Brought in to reinforce United’s midfield and provide defensive stability, he was expected to make an immediate impact.

At the time of his signing, the club’s leadership praised Ugarte for his ball-winning ability and regarded him as a key target.

However, his time at the club has been inconsistent.

Under Erik ten Hag, he struggled for regular playing time, and the arrival of Ruben Amorim as manager has not significantly changed his role.

Once a standout performer at Sporting CP under Amorim, Ugarte now finds himself low in the midfield hierarchy at United.

Recent updates indicate that he was close to a summer transfer, with Italian clubs showing interest, though a loan move did not materialize.

Sources suggest a permanent transfer could be considered in 2026 if a suitable offer arrives.

Despite being contracted until 2029 with an optional extension, his future at the club appears uncertain.

Financially, United could face a loss if Ugarte departs, continuing a pattern seen with several high-profile acquisitions who left for less than their purchase fees.

Since joining, Ugarte made 22 league starts last season and featured in seven more matches as a substitute.

This season, he has appeared just three times, indicating he has not yet lived up to expectations.

Current estimates place his market value around €45 million, but considering his form, the club might accept offers in the £30–35 million range.
