Manchester City Eye 18-Year-Old Nigerian Star After Standout Two-Week Trial

Nigerian youngster Angelo Agbejoye is reportedly on trial with Premier League champions Manchester City.

According to reports from Africa Foot, the 18-year-old winger, who currently plays for Grassrunners FC in Nigeria, has caught the attention of City’s scouts with his composure in front of goal.

Agbejoye’s path to Manchester has been a steady climb. Earlier this year, he was invited for trials with AIK Stockholm in Sweden and Hannover 96 in Germany, where his skill set reportedly left a strong impression.

The experience of training in Europe is now proving valuable, as AIK’s recruitment manager, Fredrik Wisur Hansen, previously described the Nigerian as a good finisher.

“A winger who has a nose for goal and who has good speed. He has good finishing ability with his left foot. There is something in him and he will have the opportunity to grow into this,” he said, as quoted by Fotbollskanalen.

Agbejoye begins two-week trial at Manchester City

New information gathered by Soccernet.ng indicates that Grassrunners Football Club wing wizard, Angelo Agbejoye, has begun a two-week trial with Manchester City following an official invitation from the English Premier League side.

The left-footed winger’s trial runs from October 27 to November 10, 2025, according to details revealed by Sportsdayonline.

This is perceived as a good step forward for Agbejoye, who seeks to impress the Cityzen’s coaching staff and possibly earn a professional contract with the club.

Grassrunners FC media personnel Nwaduba Raymond spoke highly of the youngster’s potential, telling Soccernet.ng:

“He’s a top talent. Trust me. I played the game, so when I say that, you can trust my judgement. He has a fantastic left foot. In the next five years, he will be a great asset for Nigeria.”

Could become eighth Nigerian to join Manchester City

Should Agbejoye earn a deal, he would become the eighth Nigerian player to join Manchester City in any capacity.

Over the years, City have had several Nigerian connections, including Dickson Etuhu, Kelvin Etuhu, Nedum Onuoha, Kelechi Iheanacho, Tom Dele-Bashiru, Tosin Adarabioyo and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who all came through the club’s ranks at different times.
