The National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has formally handed over leadership of the Commission to May Agbamuche, who will now serve as the Acting National Chairman.
The handover took place on Tuesday during a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) at the INEC headquarters in Abuja.

Agbamuche, who is the oldest serving National Commissioner in the electoral body, will oversee the affairs of the Commission pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.
While announcing the transition, Professor Yakubu urged the Commissioners, Directors, and staff of the Commission to extend their full cooperation and support to Agbamuche to ensure continuity and stability in INEC’s operations.
