Security analyst, Mahdi Shehu has criticised the approach of negotiating with armed bandits, describing it as absolute nonsense and an act of cowardice.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, Shehu questioned why the state or citizens would engage with criminals who commit extreme crimes far beyond any grievance.
“Why would you negotiate with an unrepentant criminal who commits crimes disproportionate to whatever his grievances are?
“You kidnap innocent villagers, dehumanize them, abuse their honour, kill, traumatized, terrorize and pauparize them etc and eventually the criminal goes to the negotiating table with a victim mentality.
“I don’t subscribe to that brand of COWARDICE. Is it absolute nonsense. As they take pride in taking arms, the State must make it a duty to eliminate them,” Shehu said.
