Lai Mohammed discusses Ngige, Malami, and other ministers’ fates.
President Muhammadu Buhari will decide what happens to ministers who registered interest in elective posts but later backed out, according to Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed.
Following the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, Lai told State House media that he would need to go back to the President to find out what would happen to the ministers.
“The other question concerning ministers returning or not returning,” he added at the briefing, “I think you need to give me more time so that I can tell you exactly what the situation is.”
“Right now, I’m doing some double-checking.” I need to confirm the situation with Mr. President once again. “You see, Mr. President makes the final choice on who goes, who returns, and who does not,” he added.
Members of President Buhari’s cabinet who want to run for public office in 2023 have been told to resign.
Nine ministers announced their intention to run for President, however several later changed their minds.
Meanwhile, Lai Mohammed stated that no plans to restrict Facebook operations in Nigeria are in the works.
