Kwankwaso Speaks On Possible Alliance With Tinubu, Obi, APC, And ADC

Former Kano State Governor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has declared that the 2027 general elections will be the most competitive and intense in Nigeria’s political history.

The highly-influential political figure believes the contest will shake the nation like never before, with more informed voters and stronger demands for real leadership.

Kwankwaso, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), stated that Nigerians are tired of hardship and are now paying closer attention to the choices they make at the polls.

According to him, people are better enlightened through radio and social media, and many are ready to defend their votes.

Speaking during an interview with BBC Hausa to mark his 69th birthday, he said the political atmosphere will change drastically in 2027 because citizens are no longer willing to exchange their votes for money.

He noted that Nigerians want leaders who are capable of rescuing the nation from insecurity, poverty, and poor governance.

The former Defence Minister also gave a major political hint. He said the NNPP is open to aligning with other influential political figures and major parties — including APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, ADC, Peter Obi, and even former President Goodluck Jonathan — as long as the alliance puts the welfare of ordinary people first.

Kwankwaso insisted that any partnership must come with mutual respect and clear commitments. He stressed that NNPP has strong structures nationwide, including governorship candidates across all states, and therefore will not join any alliance that does not provide value for the party and its supporters.

“We’re ready for anyone,” he said. “But whoever we work with must show competence and integrity. The common man must benefit, youths must receive proper education, and security must be restored.”

He also criticised political elites who abandon suffering Nigerians while living comfortably in Abuja. He mentioned rising insecurity in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and parts of Kaduna, accusing leaders of ignoring the pain of the masses while enriching themselves.

Kwankwaso maintained confidence that the NNPP has grown into a formidable force, capable of influencing Nigeria’s future and shaping the nation’s governance direction ahead of 2027.

POLITICS NIGERIA reported that Kwankwaso had earlier in September hinted at a possible working relationship between the NNPP and the APC.
The former Kano governor stressed that such collaboration would only be considered if it brings value and benefits to the NNPP’s structures and members.
