Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya has lamented that the issue of negotiating with bandits is beyond the Northern governors.
Inuwa stated this on Monday while responding to questions in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television monitored by DAILY POST.
He was reacting to the recent wave of insecurity bedeviling the Northern region of the country where people are beiing kidnapped, including women and schoolchildren.
“You see this issue of negotiating with bandits, it has gone beyond Northern Governors; it is a national issue.
“Security is on the exclusive list but the governors are doing whatever possible to ensure that this issue of banditry is brought under control.
“Security agencies do not take directives from the governors; they only take them from their commanders.
“Governors would have to wait until these security agencies get orders from above and by the time decisions are made, it might be too late. So, having the local police will bring effective security,” he said.
