Professor Rahmon Tella has officially resumed his role as the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, for Oyo State following a swearing-in ceremony presided over by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan, SAN.
A statement posted via INEC’s X handle on Tuesday, said, “An occasion of an oath-taking is a solemn occasion. It is an occasion that calls for duty,” Professor Amupitan stated, highlighting the pivotal role of the REC in advancing Nigeria’s democratic processes.
In his address, the INEC Chairman underscored the commission’s dedication not only to regulatory oversight but also to a “moral and legal duty” to the Nigerian people.
He stressed the importance of integrity and professionalism, declaring, “The integrity of our election is not negotiable. You must uphold the highest standard of professionalism and integrity in every action you take. Any compromise on our values or our procedures shall not be tolerated.”
