The House of Representatives is convening a special session to address Nigeria’s worsening security situation, amid a wave in banditry attacks and kidnappings nationwide.
Speaker Abbas Tajudeen urged Nigerians to be mindful of their utterances about the country, stressing that security is a shared responsibility.
The Deputy Speaker noted that while Nigeria has strong deterrent laws, challenges persist due to poor implementation and inadequate funding for security efforts.
Other lawmakers advocated for state or community policing, the installation of perimeter fencing in all primary and secondary schools, and called on citizens to avoid actions that foster disunity.
