Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
A statement released by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed late on Monday night revealed that the governor submitted his resignation since November 4, 2025 in a letter addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde, in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun State.
Governor Adeleke said he decided to leave the party because of the ongoing crisis within the national leadership of the PDP.
“Due to the current crisis within the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I hereby resign my membership of the PDP with immediate effect.” he wrote
He also thanked the party for the opportunity it gave him to serve as a senator representing Osun West and later as governor of Osun State.
While the governor is yet to officially announce the party he is set to join, there are rumors circulating that the governor may be planning to join the Accord Party as preparations begin for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
