Kano ex-governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, says he plans to set up a new independent Hisbah agency so that about 12,000 dismissed Hisbah personnel can return to doing religious and moral duties in the state.
He said this while receiving the report of the committee he created to review the situation of the affected officers.
Those dismissed include Hisbah officers who worked in anti-immorality duties, volunteers, and advisers.
The committee that worked on creating the new agency was led by the former Kano Hisbah Commander, Dr. Harun Muhammad Ibn Sina, along with the former head of KAROTA, Hon. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi, and other senior clerics.
The committee’s findings include detailed information and recommendations on how to revive the work of the dismissed officers and secure a stable future for them.
Details of the report are expected to emerge later.
