Following the death of the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III, his 18 wives are now available for other suitors who might be interested in marrying them.
In the report which was made by Vanguard on Monday, April 25th, an Oyo Chief stated that however, the ladies are not permitted to marry someone from Oyo. That means, if they want to marry, the man must not be someone that comes from Oyo.
The chief said that no cleansing will be needed and that the women are free to go about their normal lives.
Speaking further, the chief said that all the women will be asked to leave the palace with their belongings now that the Alaafin is dead, even though they would share the late monarch’s properties.
