DSS Nabs Social Media User For Allegedly Calling For Coup Against Nigerian Government

DSS Arrests Social Media User Over Call for Military Coup to Overthrow Government

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a social media user who publicly called for the military to overthrow the Nigerian government.

Identified as Innocent Chukwuma, the individual, who operates the “X” account @TheAgroman, had posted messages advocating a coup and urging the armed forces to “suspend the Nigerian government.”

DSS operatives traced and apprehended him in Oyigbo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, shortly after the posts were made.

In one of the posts, he wrote, A coup in Nigeria is needed. Dispose of APC, suspend the Nigerian Government, and join the AES. That is all we need now.
It will happen eventually. Nigerians, the military needs your support now! Only them can save this country.

He also alleged that the country’s leadership had compromised national sovereignty, stating that only a military intervention could “reset the country.”

His arrest comes amid recent speculation of attempts to topple President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

However, on October 18, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) dismissed the coup claims as “false and misleading.”

The renewed conversation around a possible military takeover emerged again after President Tinubu announced the removal of Service Chiefs last week.
