Deputy Speaker Kalu: APC Will Rely on Voters’ Support, Not Federal Power, to Win Abia in 2027

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, has assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will not rely on federal power to take control of Abia State in the 2027 general elections.

God bless Phoenix

Speaking in Umuahia on Sunday during a meeting with members of the Renewed Hope Partners and other APC supporters, Kalu said the party is confident it can dislodge the ruling Labour Party (LP) through the votes of the people.

“We are not going to take over this state by force. Some people think we will use federal power — no! We will win with the votes of the masses,” Kalu stated.

The Deputy Speaker urged residents of Abia, especially APC members, to get their voter’s cards during the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise, stressing that their votes will be the key to “sacking” the current government in 2027.

Kalu also criticized the LP-led administration in the state, claiming it has underperformed despite receiving larger monthly allocations than previous governments.

He added that Abia people are ready to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, pointing to what he described as the president’s achievements and financial support to states.

“Some people insult me for speaking the truth about Abia’s leadership,” Kalu said. “But I will continue to play my role as the leader of the opposition in this state.”
