According to a report by Football London on Tuesday June 9, 2026, Chelsea are reportedly preparing for major squad changes this summer, with new manager Xabi Alonso set to inherit a team undergoing significant restructuring after a disappointing campaign.
Several first-team players have been linked with departures from Stamford Bridge. Midfielder Enzo Fernández has attracted interest from both Real Madrid and Manchester City, while defender Marc Cucurella is also reportedly considering his future.
Chelsea are expected to continue trimming their squad, with players such as Filip Jørgensen and returning loanee Axel Disasi among those likely to leave as the club seeks to balance finances and reshape the roster.
According to reports, Chelsea have identified seven players they consider untouchable heading into the summer transfer window. The group includes Reece James, Cole Palmer, Moisés Caicedo, Levi Colwill, Estevão Willian, João Pedro and Josh Acheampong.
The most notable aspect of the list is the absence of Fernandez and Cucurella. Their exclusion has increased speculation that Chelsea could be open to offers should suitable opportunities arise during the transfer window.
Last season, Chelsea reportedly viewed only Palmer, Fernandez and Caicedo as indispensable members of the squad. However, the club’s priorities appear to have shifted considerably ahead of Alonso’s arrival.
Palmer and Caicedo remain central figures in Chelsea’s plans, while Fernandez’s uncertain future has seemingly affected his standing within the club. Meanwhile, James and Colwill are valued for their leadership qualities, and young talents Acheampong and Estevão are seen as important pieces of Chelsea’s long-term project under Alonso.
