According to a report by BBC on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Ukraine has announced a series of long-range strikes targeting military and energy-related facilities inside Russia, including a key defence manufacturing site located hundreds of kilometres from the battlefield.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian forces launched FP-5 Flamingo cruise missiles against a military production facility in Cheboksary, the capital of Russia’s Chuvash Republic. The city is situated more than 900 kilometres from the nearest front-line positions.
In a statement posted on Telegram, Zelensky said, “Overnight, Ukrainian FP-5 Flamingos hit a military plant in Cheboksary that supplies the occupier’s army with components for drones and missiles.”
He also shared footage that appeared to show a missile approaching its target, followed by large columns of smoke rising from the area.
Ukraine’s military later identified the facility as the VNIIR-Progress plant and reported that a fire broke out after the strike.
Chuvash Republic governor Oleg Nikolaev confirmed that the city had come under attack and said three people were injured, though he did not comment on the extent of damage to the factory.
Kyiv also reported attacks on the Russian-controlled port city of Mariupol, an oil refinery in the Samara region, and a tanker linked to Russia’s so-called shadow fleet in the Black Sea.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said air defence systems intercepted or destroyed 326 Ukrainian drones across several regions overnight.
At the same time, Ukraine’s Air Force reported shooting down 181 of 207 Russian drones launched against the country, while acknowledging 21 successful strikes at 14 locations.
Local authorities said Russian attacks killed at least two people and injured 26 others, including two children, across four Ukrainian regions during the previous 24 hours.
The latest operations highlight the continuing escalation of long-range warfare between both sides.
