In a recent interview on Nevon HQ on Friday, June 19, 2026, Dele Momodu, a political ally and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), spoke about the voting strength of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections and the expected political dynamics in Northern Nigeria.
During the discussion, Momodu addressed concerns about electoral spread and the influence of regional voting blocs as the country moves closer to another election cycle. He maintained that Atiku remains a strong contender due to his deep political structure across the North.
Speaking during the interview, Momodu stated, “There is no part of the North where Atiku will not get 25% of the votes in the 2027 election.” He made the remark while emphasizing the former vice president’s consistent political reach across northern states.
According to Momodu, Atiku Abubakar’s influence cuts across the North-West, North-East, and North-Central, giving him a strong and stable electoral base in the region. He noted that this spread would remain a major factor in the 2027 presidential contest.
The ADC chieftain further explained that Northern Nigeria continues to play a decisive role in national elections due to its population size and voter turnout capacity.
He concluded by reaffirming that the 2027 elections will be highly competitive, with regional strength and political structures playing a key role in determining the outcome.
