BREAKING: Protesters Face Trial as Govt-Paid Bandits Brandish Guns in Broad Daylight – Lawyer

The lawyer representing activist Omoyele Sowore has strongly criticized the Nigerian government, accusing it of persecuting peaceful citizens while tolerating armed criminals.

Speaking in an interview with Symphoni TV, he lamented what he described as the government’s misplaced priorities in handling civic dissent and insecurity.

He argued that protesters and loyalists exercising their democratic rights are often dragged to court, while individuals linked to terrorism and banditry continue to operate with impunity. The lawyer further noted that some state officials have gone as far as holding meetings with bandits, signaling official recognition of their activities.

According to him, this practice not only undermines national security but also erodes public confidence in governance. He called on Nigerians to begin demanding accountability and fairness from those in leadership, stressing that democracy cannot thrive where criminals are empowered and citizens are suppressed.

In his statement, he said, “We cannot live in a country where protesters, patriots, loyalists are dragged to courts, where bandits, terrorists and Boko Haram suspects are openly in daylights, wielding guns and holding peace palace and they are being paid by taxpayers money by government officials.

Governors have held peace parallel meetings with terrorists and bandits in this country. The time has come for the Nigerian people to ask the appropriate question.”
