The internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) intensified on Wednesday after the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, invalidated the purported dissolution of the Akwa Ibom State Working Committee.
In a letter dated October 1, 2025, and addressed to the state chairman, Aniekan Akpan, Anyanwu maintained that the state leadership remains intact.
He dismissed the earlier announcement issued by the National Publicity Secretary, describing it as “null and void.”
“For purposes of clarity, that press release should be discountenanced, because there was no formal sitting of the National Working Committee (NWC) in which such decision was taken,” he wrote.

He directed the Akwa Ibom exco to continue performing its duties in line with the PDP Constitution (2017, as amended).
