According to report by The Nation on Saturday, June 20, 2026, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the upload of polling unit results from the ongoing Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing (IReV) portal, just a few hours after voting ended across the state.
As of 5:02 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, the electoral body had successfully uploaded results from approximately 489 polling units, accounting for about 20 percent of the total polling units in the state.
The move is part of INEC’s commitment to enhancing transparency and public access to election results through its digital platform.
Ekiti State has a total of 2,445 polling units spread across its 16 local government areas.
Ado Ekiti Local Government Area has the highest number of polling units with 344, while Ilejemeje Local Government Area has the least, with 91 polling units.
A breakdown of the uploads showed that Ado Ekiti recorded the highest number of results uploaded at the time of reporting, with figures from about 113 polling units already available on the IReV portal.
In contrast, Ekiti East Local Government Area had only three polling unit results uploaded as of the same period.
The ongoing upload process allows political parties, observers, stakeholders, and members of the public to monitor election outcomes in real time, thereby promoting confidence in the electoral process.
The development comes amid keen interest in the Ekiti governorship election, with voters across the state participating in the exercise earlier in the day.
The gradual upload of results is expected to continue as electoral officers conclude the collation and transmission process from the various polling units.
INEC has repeatedly emphasized the importance of the IReV portal in strengthening electoral credibility by making polling unit results easily accessible and verifiable by the public immediately after voting and counting are completed.
