In a press briefing at Defence Headquarters, Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed that troops eliminated and arrested hundreds of armed groups’ fighters, rescued scores of abducted civilians, and seized massive caches of weapons in a coordinated month-long campaign across multiple theatres of operation.

“Our troops conducted precise and well-coordinated operations under various Joint Task Forces nationwide,” Major General Kangye stated.

“About 450 terrorists, bandits, and other violent criminals were neutralized or arrested, 39 surrendered, and 180 civilians were rescued. We remain committed to restoring peace and protecting innocent lives.”

The September operations spanned all regions, from the arid battlefields of the North East, where Boko Haram and ISWAP elements continue to be flushed out, to the South-South, where oil thieves were stripped of stolen crude worth over ₦112 million.

Across all theatres — OPERATION HADIN KAI (NE), OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA (NW), OPERATION ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE (NC), OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SS), and OPERATION UDO KA (SE) troops demonstrated a renewed offensive momentum backed by air support, local intelligence, and hybrid security formations.

Recovered items include 63 assorted firearms, 4,475 rounds of ammunition, grenades, IED-making materials, motorcycles, vehicles, and communication gadgets used by insurgents.

“These operations were executed with precision and accountability in line with international rules of engagement,” Kangye affirmed. “The safety of civilians and the professionalism of our troops remain top priorities.”

In Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States, troops under Operation HADIN KAI maintained dominance, eliminating numerous Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters during clearance missions in Konduga, Gwoza, Mafa, Kukawa, and other flashpoints. Several terrorist camps were destroyed, while logistics suppliers and informants were captured.

A total of 21 collaborators and informants were arrested between 23–30 September, and large quantities of arms and ammunition were seized.

Troops also enabled the safe return of displaced persons and supported ongoing farming activities across liberated areas.

North West: Wanted Terror Kingpins Captured

Under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, security forces tightened the noose around terror enclaves across Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kebbi, Kaduna, and Kano States.

In a decisive raid, troops captured a notorious terrorist leader, Ali Saidu, in Katsina State, while dozens of other criminals were neutralized.

In total, 46 suspects were arrested and 13 kidnapped victims rescued. The operation, Kangye said, “has severely disrupted terrorist logistics networks across the North West.”

North Central: Troops Crush Militants, Rescue Victims

In Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and the FCT, troops under Operations ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE thwarted several attacks, rescued kidnapped citizens, and recovered weapons.

In fierce firefights across Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Jos East, extremists were killed, 12 arrested, and multiple motorcycles and vehicles seized.

Another 6 suspects were captured in Benue and Taraba, with 2 hostages freed in Kogi and the FCT.
