According to a report by DAILY POST on Friday 12th June 2026, National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has urged party leaders to rein in their supporters and discourage actions capable of creating division within the party.
Speaking during an NDC stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Thursday, Dickson expressed concern over what he described as attempts by some individuals to portray the party negatively.
He noted that the NDC leadership had embraced all members and worked hard to build a united platform ahead of future elections, stressing that mutual respect and cooperation were necessary for the party’s success.
According to Dickson, the party’s flag bearers have received the full backing of the leadership, and all members are expected to support them in delivering good governance to Nigerians.
He questioned why some supporters continue to attack the party despite the efforts made to accommodate various interests within the organization.
“We accepted them as partners and agreed to build this platform together; They are our flag bearers, and we will support them through the elections to provide Nigerians with the leadership they deserve,” he said.
The former Bayelsa State governor warned that the party would not tolerate any attempt to damage the reputation of its members, insisting that unity and discipline must remain the foundation of the NDC’s growth.
Dickson therefore called on party chieftains to take responsibility for the conduct of their supporters and ensure that internal disagreements do not undermine the party’s objectives.
