Hundreds of anti-government protesters gathered in Tel Aviv’s Habima Square as part of ongoing weekly demonstrations calling for political accountability and an official investigation into major national failures.
According to reports from The Times of Israel on Saturday June 13, 2026, the Tel Aviv rally was expected to grow into the thousands, with participants also marching in from nearby Rabin Square. Protesters carried banners expressing a range of political demands, including opposition to the war, criticism of government policies, support for opposition movements, and calls for the creation of a State Commission of Inquiry into the events surrounding the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attacks.
During the demonstration, protest leader Shikma Bressler addressed the crowd, strongly criticising government officials and blaming them for what she described as a severe national crisis. She said public pressure on leaders was increasing as more citizens held them responsible for the country’s deteriorating situation.
Family members of former hostages and fallen soldiers were also expected to speak at the Tel Aviv gathering, adding emotional weight to the protest.
Similar demonstrations were reported in other cities across Israel, including Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba, and Afula, showing that the protests were part of a wider nationwide movement. While the messages varied, they were united by calls for accountability, political change, and answers regarding the failures linked to the October 7 attacks.
The protests took place alongside other regional developments reported the same day, including diplomatic statements by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a potential agreement with Iran and military updates involving operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
