Confirming her death, a fellow activist told SaharaReporters, “She slumped and died at the entrance of her house while returning home from her shop. She was a very active and energetic comrade.”

This incident comes just four months after the activist community mourned another rights advocate, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, popularly known as “Revolutionary Alfa,” who died in a road accident along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Road in Ogun State. Sulaiman was the Executive Chairman of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) and Chairman of the Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEOS).

Both losses have left a deep void within Nigeria’s civil rights movement, reminding the nation of the sacrifices made by those who relentlessly fight for justice and equity.

No official statement has yet been issued by the CDHR or other affiliated organisations on the passing of Comrade Aanu.
