According to a report by London Evening Standard on Wednesday June 10, 2026, Kai Havertz remains a divisive figure among many Chelsea supporters following his move to Arsenal, and recent comments suggest the Germany international has little interest in returning to Stamford Bridge in the future.
Although Havertz struggled to consistently justify his transfer fee after arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020, he secured a permanent place in Chelsea history by scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
His composed finish past Ederson delivered Chelsea’s second European crown and remains one of the most memorable moments in the club’s modern era. Despite that achievement, his departure to Arsenal damaged his relationship with sections of the fanbase.
The forward is currently with the German national team ahead of the World Cup and is competing for a place in the starting lineup as Germany prepare for the tournament in North America.
During a fan interaction, Havertz was asked whether he would consider returning to Chelsea. The Arsenal star reportedly laughed before replying, “You wish, you wish,” appearing to dismiss the possibility of a Stamford Bridge comeback.
His last appearance at Chelsea’s home ground was met with a hostile reception, with supporters booing him throughout the match. His decision to join one of Chelsea’s biggest rivals remains unpopular among many fans.
Other former Chelsea players, including Mason Mount and Noni Madueke, have also experienced difficult receptions when facing their former club after moving elsewhere.
Chelsea initially replaced Havertz with Nicolas Jackson following his departure. However, Jackson’s future has become uncertain after spending last season on loan at Bayern Munich.
The German champions opted against making Jackson’s move permanent, while reports have suggested Chelsea were considering alternative attacking options, including renewed interest in Havertz at one stage.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Jackson, his long-term future may not yet be decided. With Xabi Alonso now leading Chelsea, there remains a possibility the Senegal international could be reintegrated into the squad and given another opportunity to impress.
