A Kaduna-based woman, Khadija Abdulsalam, has petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, over alleged criminal intimidation, assault, and abuse of office involving a market woman, identified as Hajiya Basira, and her daughter, a police officer, DSP Madina Mustapha.
In the petition dated September 30, 2025, Khadija Abdulsalam alleged that she and her mother, who operate shops at Kaduna Central Market, have been constant targets of insults and harassment from Hajiya Basira, whose shop is located near theirs.
She claimed that on September 6, 2025, the confrontation took a violent turn when Basira allegedly launched an unprovoked verbal and physical attack on her.

According to Abdulsalam, a neighbour alerted officers from the market police post, and one Officer, Bashir, intervened and asked both parties to return the next day to sign a peace undertaking.
However, Abdulsalam alleged that on the following day, September 7, DSP Madina Mustapha, said to be Basira’s daughter and a serving officer, intervened and used her influence to transfer the case from the market police post to Magajin Gari Police Division.
“At the division, I wrote my statement but was forced to kneel and beg the same person who assaulted me,” Abdulsalam stated in the petition.
She further alleged that she was unlawfully detained without justification.
The petitioner appealed to the DIG to order an independent investigation into the incident and to caution DSP Mustapha against interfering in police processes.
The matter, which Abdulsalam says was witnessed by several people, including one Abba, has sparked concerns about abuse of power and impartiality in police handling of civil disputes.
As of press time, neither Hajiya Basira nor DSP Mustapha had publicly responded to the allegations.
