According to a report by The Sun on Tuesday, June 8, 2026, Zainab Ayuba, a recently freed kidnapping victim, has revealed that she was sexually assaulted while in captivity and expressed deep trauma over her experience, saying she would not wish such fate on anyone, not even her worst enemy.

She said, “The experience is horrible and inhuman, because I was seriously molested while in captivity. I pray that even my enemies do not fall prey to Boko Haram terrorists.”

Zainab described her ordeal as deeply distressing and inhumane, adding that her husband was killed during the attack before she was taken away by the abductors.

Another survivor, Hauwa Yusuf, also spoke about the harsh conditions they endured, explaining that hunger was a constant struggle throughout their captivity.

She said the captors only provided limited food such as guinea corn, maize, and powdered grains, usually without soup or other supplements, leaving the victims in severe hardship.

Both Zainab and Hauwa are among those recently freed after being abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
