According to a report by Daily Post on Friday, June 19, 2026, Abubakar Chika Adamu, former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Shiroro/Rafi/Munya Federal Constituency of Niger State between 2015 and 2019, has alleged that Nigeria’s political system is deeply affected by injustice and the improper management of public resources.

He stated that his experiences while participating in politics exposed him to several challenges that have continued to undermine effective governance and service delivery.

Speaking during an interview with DITV Kaduna on Thursday, Adamu explained that his time in public office gave him firsthand insight into the difficulties of operating within the existing political structure.

According to him, the prevailing system makes it extremely challenging for elected officials to provide meaningful and impactful service to the people they represent.

The former lawmaker said his decision to step away from electoral politics was deliberate and informed by his observations over the years.

He maintained that the environment within which political activities are conducted does not adequately support genuine efforts aimed at addressing the needs and aspirations of citizens.

Adamu noted that his previous involvement in politics was not driven by personal ambition or a desire to hold public office.

Rather, he said, members of his constituency and supporters encouraged him to contest and played a significant role in facilitating his entry into the race.

He explained that those who urged him to seek office went beyond mere encouragement, taking practical steps to ensure his participation in the election.

According to him, they purchased the necessary nomination forms and handled all associated financial obligations required for the contest.

The former representative further indicated that his experiences during and after his tenure contributed to his current position regarding future political participation.

He suggested that the realities he encountered within the political system strengthened his belief that meaningful change remains difficult under the existing framework.

“I personally wrote a letter stating that I will not contest for any political office again. Even when I contested previously, it was not something I sought on my own; the people persuaded me to run, bought the form and cleared all financial requirements,” he said.
