BREAKING: Dangote Refinery Launches Nationwide Fuel Distribution Today

In a major development for Nigeria’s energy sector, the Dangote Refinery has officially confirmed that it will commence the nationwide distribution of fuel starting today. This marks a significant milestone in the country’s journey towards energy self-sufficiency and reduced reliance on imported petroleum products.

According to a statement from the Dangote Group, the refinery’s fleet of fuel distribution trucks has been mobilized to begin deliveries across all regions of Nigeria. The distribution will include premium motor spirit (PMS), diesel, and aviation fuel, signaling the start of full-scale commercial operations from the $20 billion refinery.

Located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, the Dangote Refinery is Africa’s largest and one of the world’s biggest single-train refineries, with a capacity to process 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day. Its entry into active fuel distribution is expected to ease supply constraints, stabilize fuel prices, and significantly reduce the country’s import bills.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that it could bring long-term benefits to Nigeria’s economy by boosting local production and creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs. Transporters, retailers, and logistics firms are also gearing up for increased activity as fuel becomes more readily available across the nation.

Today’s rollout represents the latest step in Dangote Group’s broader strategy to transform Nigeria’s industrial landscape and ensure energy security for the nation.

As distribution begins, consumers across the country are optimistic that the move will improve availability and reduce queues at filling stations, especially in fuel-scarce regions.

The Dangote Refinery’s entrance into the domestic fuel supply chain is widely seen as a turning point for Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.
