In a statement released on Monday, the group cautioned the chairmen elected during the October 15, 2022 local government election conducted under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola not to spend the six months’ allocation recently disbursed to them.
Chairman of the group, Mr. Isha Adesiji, described the release of the funds as a violation of financial regulations. He alleged that the money was paid into accounts of individuals not legally recognised as council chairmen, calling the move an attempt by the APC-led Federal Government to divert Osun’s public funds for political gain.

“Government allocations cannot be paid directly or indirectly into any individual’s account. Doing so is a clear breach of financial procedures, and the ICPC must urgently investigate this action,” Adesiji said during a press conference in Osogbo.
He further stated that the so-called “illegal chairmen” must not access or spend the funds, stressing that the Federal Government must not use Osun’s resources as the APC’s political war chest.
Adesiji accused the Federal Government of ignoring valid court judgments and empowering previously disbanded chairmen under the PDP-led administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke. He warned that such actions undermine constitutional order and democratic governance.
“This is an assault on the Nigerian Constitution and the people of Osun State,” he said. “It sets a dangerous precedent where lawful decisions are ignored to favor political loyalists.”
The group called on professional bodies, civil society groups, and labour unions to resist what it described as the Federal Government’s “creeping authoritarianism,” stressing that the issue transcends party politics and concerns the rule of law.
Reacting, the Osun State chapter of the APC dismissed the allegations, describing them as “belated and attention-seeking.”
APC spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, accused the Omoluabi Progressives of misrepresenting the February 10, 2025 Court of Appeal judgment, which, according to the party, reinstated its chairmen and councillors.
“It is surprising that the Omoluabi Progressives are just waking up to this issue,” Olabisi said. “Their claims are outdated and reveal their desperation for relevance.”
He advised the group to focus on its political platform, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where Aregbesola serves as National Secretary, instead of meddling in APC affairs.
