Lauretta Onochie, a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC and former presidential aide has taken to her official X handle to slam the silence of the media over the arrest of six persons linked to the kidnappings in Oyo State.
According to the statements which were shared on her official X handle on Tuesday June 9th, 2026 she also pointed out that those arrested had no links to the Fulani race.
The abductions of the school children and teachers, it can be recalled, had been blamed on the Fulani, with many believing that the atrocious act was perpetrated by them.
This had enabled ethnic profiling and unfair judgement, with cases of those linked to the group facing segregation and ill treatment gaining traction across various social media platforms.
However, according to Lauretta Onochie, the silence of the media and citizens regarding the arrest of the six individuals linked to the abductions were due to the fact that the culprits were not linked to the Fulani race.
She urged the people, particularly the media to shun ethnic profiling and political manipulations, and spread the message of love, unity and peaceful coexistence.
