The office of Senator Abba Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, has dismissed claims made by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Zone C Chapter, describing them as misleading and politically motivated.
In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, the senator’s office said the recent attack on his character was a “feeble attempt” orchestrated by the council chairmen to appease their political patron.
The statement emphasized that Senator Moro’s criticism of the state government is not personal but stems from a deep concern over governance issues, including maladministration, nepotism, insensitivity, and disregard for the rule of law.
“Senator Moro has nothing personal against Governor Alia,” the statement read.
“His criticisms are aimed at highlighting issues affecting the people of Zone C, from insecurity to inequitable distribution of projects and opportunities.”
The senator’s office further highlighted his legislative and developmental achievements, pointing out that he had sponsored and secured presidential assents for three establishment bills in quick succession, executed verifiable projects across all local government areas of Zone C, and empowered thousands of youths with skills and white-collar jobs.
“This is in stark contrast to the local government chairmen, who, despite access to substantial resources, have failed to provide basic amenities such as schools, roads, bridges, and hospitals,” the statement noted.
The senator’s team also questioned the chairmen’s understanding of governance, describing their attack on Moro as “a show of shame against the people of Zone C” rather than a personal vendetta.
