Abia: Oluremi Tinubu disburses business grants to 250 persons with disability

The wife of the President, Mrs Remi Tinubu, has disbursed the sum of N200,000 as business recapitalization grant to 250 persons with disability in Abia State.

The First Lady also announced that Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association in the 36 states and the FCT will receive N50 million to be distributed to beneficiaries in their domain.

Mrs Tinubu made this known in an address she delivered on Wednesday while launching the Renewed Hope Initiative, RHI, Economic Empowerment Programme for Persons with Disabilities, under RHI Social Investment Programme.

The Nigerian First Lady who delivered her message virtually, said that the empowerment program was significant in the lives of beneficiaries as it coincided with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

Mrs Tinubu noted that the country would grow stronger when every individual is empowered to create opportunities and contribute meaningfully to the collective progress of the nation.

“In total, nine thousand, five hundred Persons with Disabilities across Nigeria will benefit from this programme, amounting to One Billion, Nine Hundred Million Naira (N1,900,000,000).

“This programme aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, which seeks to promote inclusive growth and shared prosperity by ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind, especially those whose needs are often overlooked,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu who praised the efforts of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti and his wife, Mrs Priscilla Otti for their support to the Renewed Hope initiative empowerment programs in Abia, said the initiative has provided financial and material support to victims of flooding and other disasters, communal clashes, among others.

She further encouraged the beneficiaries to utilize the grants in improving their businesses and family livelihood.
