Abia, Imo PDP chairmen reject suspension, threaten legal action

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abia State chapter, Abraham Amah and his Imo State counterpart, Austine Nwachukwu have rejected their reported suspension from the party, describing it as illegal and an attempt to silence the South East.

This was contained in an open letter they jointly wrote to the National Working Committee, NWC, of the PDP, dated October 15, 2025.

The PDP Chairmen were suspended by the Forum of State Party Chairmen for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities and for attempting to sabotage the upcoming National convention of the party.

But in the joint letter written by Abia and Imo State PDP Chairmen, Abraham Amah and Austine Nwachukwu of Imo State, they said their reported suspension was a plot to politically emasculate and disenfranchise the South East ahead of the forthcoming National Convention.

“It is now obvious that there is a deliberate agenda to intimidate and suppress voices from our region by targeting legitimate party leaders who insist on justice and fairness.

“Let it be known: the South East is not a conquered territory within the PDP. Any attempt to undermine the political relevance of the South East will be strongly resisted using legal, constitutional, and legitimate political means. We are PDP, not political slaves”, Amah and Nwachukwu said.

They called on the NWC of the PDP to disown and nullify the communique issued by what they called illegal Forum and to warn those using the party’s name to pursue private political agenda.

The two chairmen also demanded that the political inclusion of the South East should be guaranteed ahead of the National convention.

Amah and Nwachukwu said they would take legal action against those who issued the communique for alleged defamation and contempt of court.
