Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba, to carry out his duties with integrity and put the interests of the state above all else.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara reminded Anabraba that the office he now holds is one of great responsibility and should be treated with honour.
“This is a position of honour, so I want you to guard that office with honour, discharge your duty with respect, and protect the interests of the state,” Fubara said.
He added, “When you leave the office, I want you to leave the office with honour, and you can only do that when you discharge your duty responsibly.”
The governor encouraged the new SSG to see the appointment as a call to serve, not a chance to wield power.
He also noted that the people of Rivers State are watching, especially now that peace has returned, and that the government must continue to assure them of its good intentions.
*Fubara: Port Harcourt Ring Road will be completed, despite challenges*
In a related development, Governor Fubara has restated his administration’s commitment to finishing the 62.65-kilometre Port Harcourt Ring Road project, despite recent setbacks.
During an inspection of the site on Monday, the governor expressed confidence that the project—one of the most ambitious infrastructure developments in the state—would be delivered as promised.
“This project that we started, by the special grace of God, we are going to complete it,” he said.
“We owe our people a responsibility to deliver on our commitments, and this project will not be an exception.”
The ring road, which cuts across six local government areas, is expected to significantly reduce traffic in the capital city and boost economic activity in surrounding areas once completed.
Governor Fubara reassured residents that his administration remains focused on projects that will have lasting impact on the lives of the people.
