The village of Mathibastad in North West Province was steeped in grief as a mother and her son were laid to rest side by side following a horrific tragedy. Ntebogeng Nchwi, 48, and her 25-year-old son, Morgan Nchwi, were mourned in a somber joint funeral ceremony after a violent altercation ended in their deaths earlier this month.
The incident, which has left the close-knit community reeling, occurred at the Nchwi family home. According to local authorities, Morgan allegedly attacked his mother with a shovel, hacking her to death following a heated argument reportedly centered on money. The gruesome scene unfolded in the presence of neighbors, one of whom intervened in a desperate attempt to stop Morgan’s rampage. The neighbor, whose identity has not been disclosed, shot and killed Morgan to halt the attack, police confirmed.
