A man who is 38 years old was apprehended in Khosheng Section in Monontsha Village Qwaqwa; he is suspected of committing a horrible act that has left the people of Free State in a state of anger and disbelief. In one night of violence that the police have described as unspeakably cruel, the suspect is claimed to have killed a 67-year-old man and then raped the victim’s 85-year-old mother.
The attack took place on Saturday evening, September 14, according to a statement made by the police spokeswoman, Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring. The elderly woman’s neighbours contacted the police after they heard her cries for help emanating from her residence. The mother of the deceased guy was determined to be traumatised as a result of a sexual attack, and the police uncovered the lifeless body of the 67-year-old man, who had sustained severe injuries.

Within a matter of hours, Tseki police tracked down the culprit, who was well-known within the neighbourhood, and took him into custody at his place of abode. He is scheduled to make an appearance in front of the Tseki Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 16, to face charges of murder and rape.
Warrant Officer Mophiring made the following statement: “This case is profoundly disturbing, not only due to the violent loss of life but also due to the fact that one of the most vulnerable members of our society has been violated.” The actions taken by the suspect were both brutal and lacking in any kind of humanity. We are going to make sure that justice is pursued with every legal measure at our disposal.
The residents of Monontsha Village have expressed their dismay at the incident, characterising it as one of the worst crimes in the living memory of the community. According to Mpho Radebe, a community elder, “We are living in fear.” If the most defenceless members of our society are capable of experiencing such cruelty, then no one is safe from it. We request that the courts mete out the most severe penalty available.
The incident has also drawn condemnation from activists who work to combat gender-based violence, as it has drawn attention to the terrifying levels of abuse that women and the elderly face in South Africa. This serves as a clear reminder that it is imperative to take immediate action in order to protect those citizens who are most vulnerable. asserted the activist Lebo Motloung.
Her family members and neighbours are providing her with support, and she is undergoing medical treatment and trauma counselling as an 85-year-old survivor. Any strange activity that could be indicative of threats to susceptible individuals should be reported to the police, who have encouraged the general public to remain alert.
While the suspect is preparing to face punishment, the Qwaqwa community is dealing with grief and fury and demanding that tougher precautions be put in place to prevent such brutal actions from occurring in the future. In addition, the community is demanding accountability.
