Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has condemned the unauthorized use of his name and image for social media promotions and online business endorsements.
In a statement shared on his verified Facebook page on Thursday, Obi expressed concern over individuals and groups exploiting his identity for personal and commercial gain despite previous warnings from his team.
“My attention has been drawn once again to the activities of individuals and groups who persist in using my name to promote or endorse various online businesses and ventures,” Obi stated. “Despite earlier clarifications issued by my aides, some persons have continued to exploit my identity for personal and commercial gain, thereby misleading unsuspecting members of the public.”

The former Anambra State governor firmly distanced himself from any such endorsements, describing them as fraudulent and deceptive.
“I wish to state categorically that I have no connection whatsoever with any of these endorsements or promotional activities. At no time have I authorised any individual, business, or online platform to use my name, image, or identity for commercial purposes or profit-making ventures,” he said.
Obi urged members of the public to be vigilant and disregard any online content claiming his involvement in business deals, assuring that genuine information about him would only be shared through his officially verified platforms.
“The general public is therefore strongly advised to disregard these false claims and exercise utmost caution when encountering any online content that purports to represent or involve me in business dealings,” he added.
The statement serves as another warning to those misusing his name and a reminder to Nigerians to verify the authenticity of online promotions before engaging.
