BREAKING: Plateau Lawmaker Laven Denty Freed Following Abduction

Laven Denty Jacob, member representing Pankshin South in the Plateau State House of Assembly, has regained his freedom following his abduction on Monday night.

The lawmaker was reportedly taken from his residence in Anguwan Kagji, Dong community, Jos North Local Government Area.

Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Hon. Kwarpo Sylvanus, confirmed the release to journalists on Wednesday, stating that Jacob had been reunited with his family.

“He has been successfully released, but we are yet to ascertain whether any ransom was demanded or paid. All we know is that he was released last night,” Sylvanus said, adding that the lawmaker was hale and hearty.

Sylvanus also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities, praising the prompt response of security agencies and the cooperation of citizens.

He encouraged the formation of community vigilante groups to enhance local security.

“We, as legislators, will continue to advocate for laws that strengthen the state’s security architecture,” he added.

Jacob’s abduction comes just ten days after a corps member and a University of Jos student were kidnapped in the same area, highlighting the ongoing insecurity challenges in Plateau State.
