The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has raised alarm over the worsening health of its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, warning the Nigerian government and its international allies of dire consequences if anything happens to him.
In a statement issued by IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, the group accused the Federal Government of Nigeria, some “Igbo collaborators,” and the British government of gambling with the life of their leader, who has been in DSS custody since his controversial arrest and extradition from Kenya.
IPOB insisted that Kanu’s health condition is deteriorating, stressing that his safety is “non-negotiable.”
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is priceless, and no amount of blackmail, judicial rascality, or DSS-induced health crisis will be tolerated,” the group said.

The pro-Biafra movement further warned that Nigeria’s continued detention of Kanu was pushing the country closer to a major crisis that could spiral beyond its borders.
Drawing a historical parallel, IPOB likened the situation to the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, which triggered the First World War.
“By continuing his illegal detention, Nigeria has plunged the East into turmoil. If anything untoward happens to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the consequences will be unimaginable,” IPOB warned.
The group also accused Britain of complicity, claiming the Nigerian government draws “false comfort” from assurances provided by London, while ignoring the growing tension in the South-East.
On Igbo politicians accused of siding with the Federal Government, IPOB described them as “traitors and political jobbers” who will eventually be disgraced by history.
Issuing what it described as a final warning, IPOB declared:
“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu must be released unconditionally and without further delay. His health and safety are non-negotiable. A worsening of his medical condition will ignite a crisis the likes of which Nigeria and its foreign backers have never imagined.”
The group called on the international community, human rights organizations, and peace-loving people worldwide to intervene before the situation escalates.
