The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, has charged senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force to embrace speed, innovation, and foresight in responding to the country’s fast-changing security threats.
He gave the charge on Monday in Abuja while opening a one-day workshop for senior officers of the Force.
The event, held at the Police Resource Centre, was organised with the Society for Peace Studies and Practice. Its theme was: “Managing Fast-Paced Security Challenges in a Protracted Conflict Environment.”
Egbetokun told the gathering that modern conflicts don’t wait. They appear suddenly, grow quickly, and refuse to go away. He said police leaders must therefore be innovative and always ahead of the threats.

In his speech, the police chief commended the SPSP for creating a platform that bridges scholarship and policing, describing the partnership as an opportunity for the police to “reflect, renew, and sharpen leadership capacity for the complex challenges ahead.”
He also honoured the visionaries of the Society, including its founder, Professor Isaac Olawale Albert, known as the “Father of Peace,” Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the current President, Nathaniel Msen Awuapila.
