According to a report by Daily Post on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that a significant number of projects completed under President Bola Tinubu’s administration in Abuja were initiated by previous governments.
Wike made the disclosure on Tuesday during the commissioning of the newly completed dual carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), stretching from Ring Road I Junction near Gudu Cemetery to Ring Road II Junction at Kabusa.
The event formed part of the Federal Government’s ongoing infrastructure development programme in the nation’s capital.
According to the minister, the decision by the current administration to complete projects inherited from past governments demonstrates continuity in governance and a commitment to delivering tangible benefits to residents.
He noted that rather than abandoning ongoing projects to pursue entirely new initiatives, the administration chose to ensure that existing developments were brought to completion.
Wike revealed that about 80 per cent of the projects completed and inaugurated by President Tinubu in the Federal Capital Territory were conceived and commenced by previous administrations.
He described the approach as a reflection of responsible leadership focused on results rather than political considerations.
The minister also commended the contractor responsible for the road project, stating that the company fulfilled its commitment to deliver the infrastructure within the agreed timeline.
He explained that he personally monitored the project on several occasions to ensure that construction progressed according to schedule.
Highlighting the significance of the road, Wike said the corridor serves the densely populated Apo Mechanics Village area, where traders and artisans had for years faced challenges linked to congestion and inadequate infrastructure.
He recalled that previous administrations had repeatedly promised to relocate operators in the area to a more suitable location but failed to implement the plans.
