Former Kaduna State governor and African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader, Nasir El-Rufai, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians, claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could try to rule indefinitely if citizens fail to unite against his government.
In a video shared by Symfoni TV, El-Rufai appeared with his political ally, Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and urged Nigerians to rise above ethnic, political, and religious divisions to protect democracy in the country.
He accused Tinubu’s administration of misleading the public, saying past claims of supporting democracy and true federalism were false.

According to El-Rufai, the current government is centralizing power at the federal level instead of empowering states and local governments.
“All those years he claimed to support democracy, it was all false,” El-Rufai said.
“The statements about fighting for true federalism were untrue. What we are witnessing now is a government aiming to centralize all power.
The reality is that we are confronting a threat of unprecedented scale in our country’s history.
If we fail to unite and end this administration in 2027, Tinubu will attempt to remain in power indefinitely. He will try to be president for life.”
His remarks have generated strong debate among Nigerians, with many discussing the gravity of his warning and the implications for the country’s political future.
