Macron Warns: Israel’s Actions Are Undermining Its Image and Credibility Worldwide

According to a report by France 24, French President Emmanuel Macron has sharply criticized Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza City, describing the campaign as both counterproductive and damaging to Israel’s international standing.

Speaking in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12 television, Macron said, “Having this type of operations in Gaza is totally counterproductive” and “a failure.” He warned that the current strategy is undermining Israel’s broader interests and weakening its global reputation.

“You are completely destroying the image and the credibility of Israel, not just in the region, but in public opinions everywhere,” Macron added, emphasizing the growing backlash Israel faces worldwide over the scale of destruction and civilian suffering caused by its operations.

Macron’s comments come amid intensifying Israeli attacks in Gaza City, where ground forces and airstrikes have targeted what Israel says are Hamas strongholds. The offensive has triggered international concern over civilian casualties and the worsening humanitarian crisis, with large sections of the city reduced to rubble and hundreds of thousands of residents displaced.

France has previously called for a ceasefire and for greater humanitarian access to the besieged territory, arguing that a military solution alone cannot bring security or stability. Macron’s remarks reflect mounting frustration among Western allies over Israel’s approach, which they fear could fuel further regional instability and erode prospects for peace.

The French president’s warning underscores growing diplomatic pressure on Israel to scale back its military campaign and pursue alternative strategies. His comments also highlight the risk that continued operations in Gaza could leave Israel increasingly isolated on the world stage, even among partners who have traditionally supported its right to defend itself.
