According to punch newspaper, The Rivers State House of Assembly has urged Governor Siminalayi Fubara to promptly submit the list of Commissioner nominees for screening and confirmation.
The call came during the lawmakers first plenary session on Thursday after the end of the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state.
In a sitting presided over by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, the House emphasized the urgent need for the Governor to constitute the State Executive Council to ensure the smooth running of government activities.
Lawmakers noted that the absence of commissioners had slowed down governance and created unnecessary administrative gaps in the state.
The Assembly also resolved that Governor Fubara should immediately commence the process of drafting and presenting an Appropriation Law for the remainder of the year.
Members argued that such a step was necessary to provide legal backing for government expenditure and to set clear priorities for development in the months ahead.
Addressing the plenary, Speaker Amaewhule reiterated the Assembly readiness to work with the Governor in the interest of the state but stressed the importance of adhering to constitutional responsibilities.
“The Executive must live up to its obligations by forwarding the list of Commissioner nominees without delay, and also ensure that an Appropriation Law is presented and passed to guide the fiscal operations of the state,” he said.
