Maresca Issues Instant Injury Update on Cole Palmer After Chelsea’s Champions League Loss

Enzo Maresca has shared an update on Cole Palmer’s condition following Chelsea’s clash with Bayern Munich. The midfielder recently underwent scans on a groin issue, and the results came back positive. Even with that good news, Maresca has made it clear that he does not want to take unnecessary risks by pushing Palmer too hard and risking a setback.

Concerns were raised when Palmer was spotted holding his groin toward the end of the game. However, Maresca reassured supporters afterward, explaining that the player himself insisted there was no serious problem. Speaking to Football London, the Chelsea boss said he had spoken to Palmer directly and was told everything was fine.

Chelsea now turn their attention to a huge test this weekend against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Maresca will be hoping Palmer is fit enough to feature in what could be a crucial match for the Blues.

History is not on Chelsea’s side ahead of the trip. Despite United’s struggles over the last 18 months, confidence among the Chelsea fanbase remains low because the club has not secured a victory at Old Trafford since 2013. At that time, Palmer was just 11 years old.

Since joining Chelsea, Palmer has already scored against Manchester United, proving he can be a difference-maker in this fixture. If he is declared fit, he is expected to start on Saturday as the Blues look to end their long winless streak at Old Trafford.
