The congregants claim the changes are disrupting the church’s stability and spiritual growth, with some threatening to shut down the parish if their preferred pastor is not reinstated.
Tension is rising at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Rumuokwurushi Parish in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as members express frustration over frequent changes in pastoral leadership within a single year.
Members Protest Frequent Pastor Transfers
In a viral video circulating online, aggrieved congregants can be heard voicing their displeasure at the leadership of the church. One angry member declared:
“Either they return our pastor, or we shut this place down.”
The outcry follows a series of pastoral changes that have unsettled the parish in recent months. Worshippers allege that the repeated transfers have disrupted the church’s stability, weakened attendance, and created confusion among departments and fellowship groups.
“We Want Continuity”
Several members, speaking anonymously, said they believe the sudden removals are unfair and harmful to the spiritual growth of the parish. “We want continuity. How do you expect us to build when the shepherd keeps changing?” one member lamented.
"Either they return our pastor, or we shut this place down."
